Another sell-out final for the ANZ Championship

With two such established and dynamic teams as the Northern Mystics and the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic vying for their Grand Final spot on Monday 16 July, it comes as no surprise to ANZ Championship general manager Andy Crook, that four days before the Preliminary Final, the penultimate event in the ANZ Championship title – tickets have all but sold out.

“We have released a small number of additional tickets for sale this morning, making every possible seat in the house available for what promises to be breathtaking action on Monday night,” said Mr Crook.

“This is another record-breaking sell-out to follow the Minor Semi-Final sell-out at Claudelands Arena. This week, tickets were sold out in less than 36 hours from being made available. It’s exciting to see the demand for our premium sporting events continue to grow.”

The Mystics unleashed the game-changing “Harrison Hoist” this year with defenders Anna Harrison and Best Young Player nominee (for the second year running) Kayla Cullen. Mid-court star Temepara George is headed for the retirement at the end of this season and no doubt the Mystics will continue to pull out all stops on the road to the finals.

The WBOP Magic is a long time nemesis for the Northern Mystics, having defeated them on Mystics home turf in five previous matches. The Magic bring Most Valuable Player player nominees Laura Langman and Irene van Dyk with them, as well as another outstanding Best Young Player nominee, Julianna Naoupu. Naoupu was key to the 1pt victory against the Thunderbirds last week, as was van Dyk’s 4th 100% shooting game this season. The Magic are coming off a 10 game winning streak, hungry to secure their Grand Final berth to take it to 11.
