Lion Foundation National Netball Championship game at Claudelands Arena

Today we can officially confirm that Netball Waikato will be hosting a Lion Foundation National Netball Championship Game at the new Claudelands Arena in Hamilton.

This is the first sporting event ever to be held at this fantastic new venue, and promises to be an exciting game between two talented sides, Trust Waikato and Western.

The game is on Sunday September the 4th at 11.30 am. Doors open at 9.00 am for a curtain Raiser at 9.30 am between two junior netball sides.

Netball Waikato Board Chair Lynnette Flowers said, “Netball Waikato Region is so excited to be using this beautiful new facility for the first time for a sporting event. Hamilton City Council are to be congratulated on their vision for providing such a facility, it makes Hamilton a truly 21st century city.” 

Region Manager of Netball Waikato Ben Sinnamon said, “This is the opening game of our Trust Waikato teams campaign, and promises to be an exciting contest. We are proud to host the first sporting event at Claudelands Arena, and encourage the public to come along and support Trust Waikato in their opening match.”

Ben states that “We are grateful to our principal partner Wintec, and the naming rights sponsor of our team Trust Waikato for their support to Netball Waikato Region. This support enables us to have events of this scale, and we look forward to working closely with them in future. We are also grateful to Lion Foundation, for their support towards netball, not only in our community, but nationally as well.”

Director of Marketing at Wintec, Warwick Pitts said “This is the second year of cheering loudly for Netball Waikato and we are eager to continue our support. Netball Waikato plays a key role in our community, motivating and giving opportunity for youth and adults to gain personal and team skills that they can transfer to any area of their life. Wintec is committed to developing skills that enable our community to create their world.”

Trust Waikato’s Chair Clint Baddeley says, “We have been proud to sponsor the Trust Waikato Netball team for the past 11 years. As the Waikato’s flagship team we wish them great success in the thrilling season ahead.”

Netball Waikato will also be running a promotion to encourage spectators to attend the match.

The Waikato Primary school, Secondary school, or Netball Club that has the most supporters at the match will receive a netball training session from Silver Fern Laura Langman.

Upon entering the Arena, Spectators will be asked to fill out an entry form to state which primary school, secondary school or netball club they are supporting.

  • $10 Adult
  • $5 Child 13 years and under
  • $25 Family Pass – 2 Adults, 2 Children
